Getting Used to Georgia

4 months ago we arrived in Georgia.

Wow.

There seem to be so many ways that California and Georgia are different!

For one, the way of life is so much slower here!  Sacramento is slower than Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego for sure.  And I'm sure Savannah is "more hopping" than other parts of Georgia (although Atlanta is crazy compared to Savannah) but in general, its slow here.  When people cross in front of you in parking lots, they don't hurry along... they mosey.  When you are in a rush to get out of a store, its inevitable that the cashier will want to be chatty.  I'm not, in any way, saying that this is a bad thing.  I'm sure it'll be refreshing in the long run.  But for this high-strung, neurotic girl... its downright weird and a little unsettling!

Chivalry is not dead.  I've dropped a dozen pacifiers on the ground (well... the kids have).  And in Cali, that meant I had to figure out how to get it, and they always seemed to bounce under the car.  But here, if there is a guy remotely nearby that saw it drop, he'll come over and save me the hassle of trying to decide whether or not the paci is really worth the effort (and with 2 kids using pacifiers, it usually is worth it).  Also, with 2 little ones, someone willing to hold a door open even when I'm not RIGHT BEHIND them, is always a plus!!

The weather is not friendly.  In Sac, its hot one day, cool the next.  In Georgia, its hot one hour and rainy the next.  And don't think that means rainy and cool.  No... its rainy and just as hot.  Which means its becoming more humid.  At least it isn't as humid as in Monterey.  There, it felt like you were standing under misters all the time.  Of course, as soon as we walk outside we instantly feel like we've run a few miles and are hot and sweaty... but its not as humid.  My hair knows.  :)  Its not as frizzy!

There are lots of other things that are different, but those are the more glaring.

We are all doing well, though.  Ana is 2.... in every sense that the age implies.  Titus is 7 months.  Tim likes his job.  And I'm still enjoying my job as a stay-at-home mom. :)  I'll update more.  I promise.  We had to get settled first.
